Word 2010 - Remove square-bracket encased string in large document
I thought this would be easy (I am only an occasional Word user) and perhaps I am missing the obvious. I have inherited a very long document with hundreds of lines containing the string: [xxxx]. The x is a digit 0-9 and the brackets are square. With the [ ] being special characters maybe that is my problem? I'm just unable to work out how to search the document for all instances of [xxxx] and just remove them?
How do I remove all the instances of [xxxx] in the document? Any help would be much appreciated less I spend several hours removing all the [xxxx] manually!!!! |

Search for
\[*\] with the wildcard option set and replace with nothing. This will leave (in many cases) two spaces. You can either add a space before the search string or replace two spaces with one subsequently. http://www.gmayor.com/replace_using_wildcards.htm
