Default Table of Contents

Word 2007

I am trying to duplicate a table of contents. The format is as follows:

Article One Identifying Properties.........................1-1
Section 1.01 Size.............................................. ...1-1
Section 1.02 Color............................................. ..1-2

Article Two Location Specimen

-----------------------------------
If I multi-line numbering on headings. How do I get the Section numbers to left justify
and the 20 spaces before the subheadings start and then right justify?

Do I need a new version of Word?

Thanks in Advance.

My formatting did not stay on the post. The 20 spaces are after 1.01 and before the word Size, then on the next line it would be 20 spaces after 1.02 and before the word Color.

If the numbering symbol is followed by a tab character in your headings, Word will add a tab stop in the TOC entry as well (and then another tab stop will be added for the page number). You can adjust the positions of these tab stops as you wish by modifying the TOC styles.

You are not going to be able to get exactly that formatting. The Automatic TOC gives the beginning page, not the end or through page.

Spacing is handled automatically and can be adjusted in the TOC styles. I seldom make any changes.
