Need help with Word template ideas.
I am working on a student worker binder on how to do everything that we need all of our students to do without having to train them on everything every time. Therefore I have created a binder, however, my boss wants each of the word templates easily accessible for future reference. Thus, she wants me to recreate it on Microsoft Word and transfer everything I have already created from Adobe Illustrator to Word. I then went in to recreated it on Word I have one idea. However, it doesn't translate very well to all of our projects/training manuals. Therefore, I need ideas on another way to create each of theses step-by-step instructions so that if I passed this job onto someone else (that has no prior experience with adobe an little experience with Microsoft). However, I also want it to look just as good as the original that I created in illustrator. I attached both images one of the adobe version and one of the microsoft version. Can you help? |

Word is not a graphics program, nor is it a desk top publishing program. It is a word processor with some graphics and DTP capability. This means that it cannot mimic what you can create with Adobe Illustrator, but it doesn't take a lot of imagination to make a reasonable stab at producing your layout in Word. The Following took less than ten minutes. With more time I could have produced something even closer, but this should at least give you some ideas.

1) Word is not illustrator. For manuals, it is probably better, but it is a different program.
2) Create a template and base your manual on that template. 3) Learn to use Styles. 4) If you are going to have numbered items or headings, connect your numbering to styles. 5) Learn to use the StyleRef Field in headers and footers. 6) Learn to use Content Controls. If the same thing is to be repeated multiple times in a manual, consider using the Document Property Content Controls.
What you've asked contemplates quite a bit of learning on your part. The time you spend on that will be recovered quickly both by you and by anyone using your documents. |
