Default Non optional break

Hi
I assigned Ctrl+Space as a shortcut for 'Non optional break'. But while I try to use it in text, it changes the font not the function I want. What do I have to do?

"non-optional space"
I am not familiar with this.
Do you mean non-breaking space?

There is already a keyboard shortcut for that: Ctrl+Shift+Space.

If you mean something else, Ctrl+Space is Clear Character formatting (revert to default paragraph font) by default. This is a very valuable command. You may want to use a differnt shortcut.

That said, where did you store the keyboard shortcut?
By default, shortcuts are stored in the normal template but they can be stored in any template or document.

Did the shortcut ever work for you?
If so, then, if saved to the normal template, it is likely that something is preventing changes being saved to your normal template.

I made a mistake. I mean 'non-width optional break'.
My problem was solved. I managed the languages in Control Panel>Languages and it fixed up.
Thank you very much.

Thank you for the update, I've marked your question as "solved."

If you are still assigning a shortcut, though, I would recommend that you consider using Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Space instead.

It takes more fingers, but the Clear character formatting command is extremely useful. I suppose you could switch that command to the four-key shortcut instead.

Charles
What I did with language causes another problem. Let me explain it with English alphabet, but I have this problem with my language (farsi).
The key 'F' (without quotes) does not type 'F' and it types (e.g.) " and the key " types F.
Now what I need is changing functions of two keys (key F with key "). Is it possible to do this change?

This is really a Windows function rather than a Word function.
If you have the correct language and region in Windows, your keyboard should work.

I note that you posted a new question about this. I moved it to the Windows forum.
