Default Master template and subtemplate docs

I seek the expertise on Word templates, style sets, themes.

For our company we have about 30 template documents. They all 'originate' from the same general/master template, in the sense that they all have the same styles & headers & titlepage. The content (actual headings and preset text) is different. However, they are not really 'linked'. So an adjustment in e.g. the header must be implemented in each template file.

What I would like is one template file which has:
* Theme font and theme color
* Header and footer
* Titlepage
* Table of content
* Custom multilevel list

And then, in some way, the 30 documents which hold specific content or text. And a easy way to apply the master template to those documents.

BTW, I can image this cannot be done with standard Word functionality. But I'm not scared of a programatic solution such as in VBA.

I will get back to you later on this. See this thread. where I lay out two methods, one using AutoText, and the other using bookmarked parts and vba. Look into AutoText and other building blocks in the meantime. Automated Boilerplate Using Microsoft Word

More than 15 years ago I uploaded a sytem for doing this, but it would require some updating and I've lost the password for the vba. It is the letterhead system on my downloads page.
