Default Restore unsaved files

Files saved in Word automatically saved and not saved by the user disappeared when the computer suddenly turned off.

I did not find ASD files but only TMP files as attached.

Change the extension to TMP - I changed to upload here.

Thanks!

Your attachment is not a valid Word document. Did you try using File>Recent>Recover Unsaved Documents?

Is a TMP file (as I wrote should change the extension), is it not related to the file I lost?

I tried the option you wrote and found nothing there.

Thanks again!

The Tmp file may or may not have been related to the document you lost; but that doesn't make the Tmp file a document. Word uses Tmp files for all sorts of things.

The question is whether there is a possibility that the file is related to the document I lost, and if so, how can I check it?

Suppose it is 'related', what then? If it contains gobbledygook, that's not going to help much. The only Tmp files that would be of any use are those that become a valid Word documents when the extension is changed to the correct document type.

No, I am saying you cannot recover meaningful content from most Tmp files. I have told you how you test whether that's the case - change the extension to the correct document type and see whether it results in a valid Word document. If it doesn't, all you've lost is the time taken for testing.

If you really want to understand what is going on, see: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...emporary-files
