Default Pictures within doc print way too small: word 2016

Hi,

If I copy and paste a picture into a word 2016 document, when I print the doc, the picture prints at about 1/8 size.
If I have drawn a line or shape on top of the picture, those graphics print at the correct size while the picture is small.

The text of the document prints just fine.

Any ideas? Thanks.

There are numerous possibilities:
1. A corrupt document, especially if only the one document is affected.
2. A rogue 3rd-party addin.
3. A faulty Office installation.
4. A faulty printer driver.

1. Corrupt documents can often be 'repaired' by inserting a new, empty, paragraph at the very end, copying everything except that new paragraph to a new document based on the same template (headers & footers may need to be copied separately), closing the old document and saving the new one over it.

2. If running Word in safe mode (i.e. hold down the Crtl key while starting Word) resolves the problem, a rogue third-party addin is the most likely cause. In that case, re-start Word, disable all third-party addins, then progressively re-enable them until the culprit can be identified by its problematic behaviour. Uninstall (and, perhaps, reinstall a compatible version of) the addin.

3. To ensure Office is working properly, try repairing the Office installation (via Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair).

4. Check your printer maker's website for an updated driver. Uninstall the existing driver then reinstall it or the updated driver, as appropriate.

Thank you,

All of my documents have been doing this since i purchased a new computer with Office 2016.

I am going to try your suggestion of "repairing" office. Also, our network printer driver has probably not been updated in centuries! I hadn't thought of that.

I hope one of these will fix the problem.

May sound asinine but check your document to see if it has inserted comments, that will affect the printing of the document

Having comments in a document would not cause:
Quote:
the picture prints at about 1/8 size
especially when, as the OP says:
Quote:

Even where comments may affect the printout - which only occurs when you have the 'Final-Show Markup' option checked (in combination with others), the overall reduction for the document itself, including any images, is only about 1/5-1/4 (i.e. the document prints at about 3/4-4/5 full size).
