Here is a decent book on vba.
Mastering VBA for Office 2010 by Richard Mansfield. You may want to start with Writing Word Macros by Steve Roman, from O'Reilly. It is dated but I really like the approach. Again, start by learning Word. A good online introduction is Basic Concepts of Microsoft Word - from Shauna Kelly
