Format and colour
Hello Everyone,
I keep a monthly account on a Word document of certain regular financial movements. The details have a different colour for each month. Entering a certain amount for this month, a line has appeared beneath the words and figures and at the right end of the line is a box in the margin, which has just appeared, with "With Format: Colour of Font: and the colour 'Blue' is written. [Con formato: color de fuente: Azul] (I have the programme in Spanish as the laptop was bought in Spain and the MS Office is totally in Spanish!) Also, one of the letters is showing in a different colour to the rest of the line and cannot be altered. I have tried to cancel and alter this but do not seem able to find a way to do so. Any advice would be gratefully received. Regards Colin |

Without actually seeing the problem document, it can be difficult for anyone to diagnose the issue. Can you attach an extract from the document to a post with some representative content(delete anything sensitive)? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen.

Hello macropod (?Paul),
Thanks for your answer. I have tried many methods of copying/screenshot/copy-and-paste, etc, but with each effort I am unable to remove or paint over the data of figures and names of the original, which I am not keen to make public. My last effort was to copy and paste onto a new Word Document. As I had no need to remove any data, I only needed to add the particular colour to the figures of the relevant month. This has been successful, and the underlined anomaly was not repeated in the pasted copy. I have no idea what caused it to appear, but I shall remember my "solution" should it occur in the future! Being well past my sell-by-date, I would mention that in 1957 - 60 years ago - I visited your beautiful city of Canberra. It was still in the throes of post-olympic fervour, and all the structures were mostly intact. Many memories have faded, but I remember going to Mount Ainsly (? correct spelling?) and we went on a tour of part of the Parliament House - which was the actual working seat of your parliament at that time. We stayed for 5 days and I had no difficulties or repercussions on returning to the UK of having been "upside-down" for that length of time!! Regards, Colin. |

That would be mount Ainslie. I doubt you'd recognise Canberra now. Back then it would have had a population ~40,000 and no lake; now it's about 380,000 with 5 lakes.

Hello macropod, Paul,
Thank you for your answer. Sorry I was unable to follow your instruction - "Can you attach an extract from the document to a post with some representative content(delete anything sensitive)?" - but as I thought I had explained, I was unable to edit the original, for some strange reason, so decided not to follow through using the method that you advised. After I had made the copy, I tried many times to edit the original but each time it was a failure so I have consigned it to the Recycle Bin! Thanks for your comments on Canberra, from your brief description, I would certainly not recognise it now! I remember a river but I don't remember any lakes!! There was also a great deal of construction going on. (See what age does to memories!) When I have posted this reply, I shall search on Google Earth and see what I can remember of that which appears in the present picture. Regards Colin |
