Can WORD be divided ?? Can I securely keep information in Word?
How can I divide WORD into two parts or sections and have the second section accessable by a password?
Heres my problem; Because now it seems everything is done by the internet - eg: Air travel, Banking, emails, Hotel bookings and so on and so on - My list of sites ( even this one ) requires a Username and Password to access and I have now have an A4 size page of websites in my system that I use, some with my credit card info. I created the list of websites in WORD. To remember the USERNAME and PASSWORD to each of the WEBSITES on my Website list - I created a coding next to them: eg: FAMILYSEARCH WEBSITE with the codes (68 )(31-43) AG (15-98) along side. Of course you have no idea what that group of numbers and letters mean - but I do - They represent the USERNAME and PASSWORD to access the Familysearch website. To create that so-called SECRET Username and Password code - I used WORD. Heres the dilema - both the WEBSITE list with the codes and the Username/Password codes are in my WORDS program. From time to time I am going to access both lists to add details of a website and or change the username and password. If someone gets access to my computer - they can go to WORD and see both Websites and how to access them. Hense my question of being able to divide my word program and sensitive details such as my USERNAME and PASSWORDS are seperated and can only be accessed by a password. You can have a Word document that is password protected for opening. No one without that password should be able to open it. Use a strong password. Note: If you forget this password, you will not be able to open the document.
Later versions of Word (2007+) are more secure, but the password protection provided by Word 2003 should be sufficient to keep it away from most prying eyes. If you need better, get a later version of Word or a separate encryption program. |

Charles - FOUND HOW TO DO IT - "OPTIONS" then "SECURITY" Shows a Password protect of the Document box for adding a Password. This 70 year old took on board that if I forget password - Document cannot be retrieved. Once again thanks..
