In Word 2016 I cannot get the "Show Document Text" to work properly in Headers. I know you need to have both a header AND footer in your document for it to perform. However, checking or unchecking the "Show Document Text" Box in the Options Group of the Header/Footer Tools should either show the text in the document along with the headers/footers or it will show only the headers/footers when unchecked. It works fine in 2013 but not 2016. Any suggestions, please? Thank you.

I tried it again this morning and it worked perfectly, just as it should and I did nothing different. Thank you for your assistance. I'm thinking it has something to do with the machine I am on...(classroom environment but embarrassing when I am trying to explain to students.)

Your classroom machine may not allow changing of options. This is an option which normally should be turned on, though.

Can you please share which Option this would be? I'm assuming in the Backstage View?

It is the option you have been trying to check on the Header and Footer Tools Tab.
