Question How can I link Word documents so that when I do something in one, something else happens in another?

Good Morning!

I'm new to the forum and I'm interested in learning, if at all possible, how can I link two documents so that when I type something in one, something specific happens in the other.

Thank you for your assistance.

Sincerely,
Rogelio M.

Default

You can do that in the destination document via Insert|Object>Text from File, then selecting the file you want to link to. This creates an INCLDETEXT field in the destination document, which you can see by pressing Alt-F9 to toggle Word's field code display on/off. From then on, anything typed in the source file will be reflected in the destination file. Moreover, if you're working in the destination file and you edit part of the linked content there, pressing Ctrl-Shift-F7 with the cursor anywhere in the linked range will update the content in the source document as well.
