Save 6x9 2007 Word document to 6x9 PDF
I wonder if someone can help me. Forgive me if this has been answered somewhere before, but I'm new here.
I have a 6x9 Word document and am trying to create a 6x9 pdf. I need to email the 6x9 pdf to someone (will be used to generate a book). There are no options in word that I've been able to find to change the size of the pdf from 8.5x11. There are no Adobe buttons on my ribbon. All I have is the Saves as PDF or XPS option. I can change my printer to print it as 6x9 but it won't save as 6x9. Do I need to download an add-in? There are no disabled add-in options on my version of word. This has become very frustrating. Thank You in advance to anyone that is willing to help. |

Download and install PrimoPDF. From the Print dialog in Word, set PrimoPDF it as the 'printer driver'. In the Printer Properties > Advanced dialog, set the paper size to Postscript Custom Page Size and from the custom dialog that pops up, set the page size to 6 x 9. 'Print' the document.

Thank You
I did as you instructed and it works; but I don't want to print the pdf. I want to save it as a 6x9 pdf document, and send it to someone in an email. Essentially I want to mirror the Word document, but in a PDF format. Now that I have it ready to print 6x9, how do I simply save it? Thanks again.

PrimoPDF uses the print process to create PDFs. It doesn't print the PDF to a printer but to a PDF file. Given that you confirm that it works, how would you know unless you have done that? Attach the PDF created to your e-mail.

My pdf is a 516 page book. I'm sending it to a publisher to print. It has to be 6x9. I accessed adobepdf elsewhere as the driver and it had the specifications the publisher was looking for (as per the printing machine - size wise, etc.) Primopdf may still work; I don't know. I'll send the pdf I generated with it as well; and let him decide.
Thanks again for your help. |

While researching why my PDFCreator Add-in didn't work with custom page sizes, I discovered in the PDFCreator FAQs that like many printer drivers, it did not respond to custom page sizes and there was no override available in the driver. However this is fairly simple to work around by making 6"x9" a valid form size in Windows through Windows > Print Management > Servers > Forms > Manage Forms > Create a New Form.
This has the additional bonus that when you use Word's own relatively rudimentary PDF function, it too will adopt that size if applied to the document.

Ah yes, that rings a bell. I had to create a new form in adobepdf as well (6x9). I'll try that with primopdf. Thanks for delving deeper into my problem.

Thanks so much for this information, gmayor. It is still valid! The easy explanations and direction that you provided really saved me in this super-complicated issue! Wow.
