Unhappy Style language set to French not spellchecking the French correctly

I wanted to be able to have spellcheck work in English for one paragraph and then in French for the next. I created styles to try to do this. In the second style I created, I set the language to French, but the spellchecker is not working properly on the French text entered with that style. I'm using Office 2013. Any suggestions as to why?

Hi,

When I try the same, it works for me. Have you try it without the style to have English and French section in the same document? Does the spell checking works?

Yes the spell checking works if I have only French in the document and the style language set to French. Unfortunately I want to be able to switch easily from one language to the other in the same document.

Have you turned off "Detect language automatically" in the Language dialog box (Review | Language | Set Proofing Language)?

Are you using paragraph or character styles to format the text?

Sorry for the delay in replying. Thank you for your post. No I had not turned off the "Detect language automatically" in the language dialogue box, but after receiving your post, I tried doing that. Unfortunately that has not helped. I am using paragraph styles.

Apply the style with the language set to French, select the text and press Ctrl+SpaceBar. That should clear any direct language formatting and revert to the settings of the underlying style.

Thank you. Your suggestion works. While I had hoped for something more "automatic", I believe we can consider the problem solved, but I don't know how to go about marking the thread as solved. Can anyone instruct me on how to do that?
