Microsoft had an automatic update on 03/15/17. Now my documents in Microsoft Word 2016 that use MathType 6.9b equations don't display the equations in line with the text properly. I can change the formatting of EVERY equation in EVERY Word document I have, but I would like to avoid that. Suggestions?

Can you back up from the update?

Contact the people who put out MathType. They may have some suggestions.

I've experienced the same problem. I could fix it by restoring the system to the state before the update, but this is only a temporal solution...

we removed this update and MathType worked fine.

KB3178674

I've experienced the same problem and removing KB3178674 solve the issue.
The display problem in word 2016 disappeared immediately.
Don't forget to exclude KB3178674 from the updates.

KB3178720 published yesterday solve the issue inside Word.
BUT the issue come back in PDF if you create it by save as / pdf format.

The only solution for now is to uninstall KB3178720

KB3085439 works fine: no more problme with mathtype in Word and in PDF
But why this KB is not downloaded via the Microsoft update like the others two that are causing the bug?

It's only just been published. Perhaps it will be part of the next round of auto-updates...
