Default Headers

Hey Guys, hope everyone is well. I'm hoping to grab the attention of a Word guru to help me solve and big problem i have.My job requires me to fill out a 11 page form in a word document, The header information is the same on most of the pages, a friend of mine was able to set this form up so that all i had to do is fill out the information on the header of the first page and it would auto fill to all the rest. problem was one of the pages, lets say page three has different information to all the rest.
is there a formula to select which pages auto fill in the headers? kind of like when you select certain pages that you want to print.
Sorry if this is confusing, i have difficulties explaining myself at times.

Uhm, if you don't have a clue, headers is a fairly complex place to start.

Every section of a Word document has three headers, whether they show up or not.
The entire document can be one section; on the other hand, a single page can have multiple sections.

Header/Footer Settings Recap

You need to figure out which header in which section is causing you the problem. Go to the page with the problem header and try double-clicking in it to edit it.

If you write back describing the exact header causing the problem with more information on what the problem is, someone here will probably be able to help you. If you are really in a hurry, the following tool could probably help. It lets you look at each header and footer as well as the relationships between them. Word Toolkit for Advanced Management of Word Headers and Footers
(EDIT: Oops, that will not work on Word 11.)

Read the recap, at least, first, though.

Hi, Thank you for your reply, the headers are already populated, however i need to fill in information for each site i visit, project id, milage etc. Friend had a go at it and the formula populated the rest of the headers on different pages, the problem was pages 2 and 8 of 11 does not require a header so there is a break so to speak.
what i need is to be able to fill out the information on the header on page one, then have the headers on pages 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 missing out pages 2, 8, 10 and 11.

You do not want a macro for this.
How much information has to go into these? If less than 15 items, see Repeating Data Using Document Properties Content Controls and Other Mapped Content Controls. That may not work in Word 11. I do not know if Word 11 uses mapped content controls.

See also StyleRef Field and Repeating Data (Populating Multiple Like Fields). Both of those give methods that should work in Word 11.

I have not used Word on a Mac since Word 6 (around 1995) so am not the best source of information.

First, read the article on the StyleRef field. If that won't help, please read the recap posted earlier.

For someone to help you here directly, we need to know the Section number, not page number and whether the header is identified as "Header," "First-page Header," "Even Header," or "Odd Header." When you are editing a Header that will be shown in the line dividing the header from the body of the document.

The page number simply does not help much. Word really does not think in terms of pages.
