Can I use the same footnote on the bottom of multiple pages?
Hi
I have a question about footnotes but since English is not my native language, it's kinda hard to explain but I'll try with an example On page 1, I have the word "car²". On page 3, I have the word "boat²" On page 3, I have the word "cow" The footnotes will then be ² Transport ³ Animals But these footnotes only appear on page 3... Is there any way to show footnote ² on the first AND third page? |

You can only have one footnote with a given reference number on a page. For your purposes, you might do better to use endnotes and, for cases referring to the same endnote #, insert a cross-reference to that #. That said, such a cross-reference will take you back to the original endnote reference, not to the endnote. If you want the links to go to the actual endnotes instead, that would bookmarking the endnote references in both the body and the endnotes, then using hyperlinks in place of the standard references (which get formatted as hidden text). The process is quite involved and requires a macro to automate it.

You could, of course configure Word to re-start the footnote numbering on each page (and copy/paste the footnotes to each page you wan them to appear on), but whether a given entry (e.g. Transport) has the same footnote number on every page depends on what other footnotes precede it on the same page.
