Hi! I'm writing a novel and within each chapter, there are usually a couple of scene breaks. I signify a scene break with 3 centered asterisks: *** (This is how you format a manuscript.)
However, the first line of the paragraph following the *** has a hanging indent (as do all the paragraphs.) This means that the 3 asterisks above it are not truly centered on the line because they are centered according to the hanging indent. To correctly center the 3 asterisks, I'd have to go through each in the book, highlight it, then remove the hanging indent. I've tried to find a "replace all" solution to no avail. If anyone has a solution that would NOT involve doing each one separately, I would be most appreciative! |

That has to do with how you have configured your STYLES (if you used them at all) within your document. If you are not familiar with STYLES, here are some links that can help you:
Understanding styles | ShaunaKelly.com Understanding Styles in Microsoft Word To quickly remove, or reconfigure the style of the hanging indent, right-click in the paragraph in question and from the subsequent menu, select PARAGRAPH. Then, from the resulting menu in the INDENTATION section (mid-menu), make your adjustment to the desired level (if any). After making your adjustments (and, if needed, refer to the link(s) provided)....READ the links for a better understanding. The payout is well worth it...an hour or two will save you multiple of hours down the road. |
