ways to declutter 2016?
I recently needed to work with a computer that has 2016 loaded in Windows 10. The amount of clutter and pointless action was staggering. It appears as if this is set for touchscreen use. There is a huge ribbon, when you click a submenu item it opens up a new window filled with huge illustrations and multiple choices, and on and on. When the print window opens, it takes up so much space you have to zoom out and scroll just to see all the options that are presented. The ribbon is pointlessly filled with illustrations and text for each option.
Is there a way to declutter this? I want to create settings to show the largest possible working page so there is little in the way. I want the smallest amount of ribbon, few, if any, icons, and a way to show menus and submenus as tight text-only choices. I'd like to be able to choose menus selectively and be able to view all the options in a small space. Is there no way to open a document or click print without a huge new window sliding over and taking up the work space, for example? Reduce the ribbon to drop-down menus? There are some tweaks you can do with the quick access toolbar, but these are pretty limited, and some of them, such as open document and print/print preview, just open the bloated menu anyway. Add the Touch/Mouse mode button to your Quick Access Toolbar and click it. That should improve the situation.
