Merging different sections in one document
I am running office 2010 pro. I have a document in different sections and I am trying to marge them to one file so that the headers and the footers will flow properly. I have tried to marge the sections by highlighting the whole documents and set up the Header and footer requirements without luck. Now I have a single page document and the page number starts with 2 of 1. I tried to change the start number to 1 and it did not work. See attached. This never happened to me before. Any help will be appreciated. Edit: For what it is worth, the following was an earlier post by the same poster: Quote:

First, as to the sample document:
Why the .doc format? I suspect file corruption, to which the .doc format is more prone. Turn on display of non-printing formatting marks.Showing non-printing formatting marks in Microsoft Word Go to the very end of your document and press the Enter key. That will produce an extra paragraph mark at the end. Copy the entire document into a new document except for that last paragraph mark. Second, I don't think "marge" is a word; if it is it is one with which I am unfamiliar. You can find just about everything I know about Sections / Headers and Footers in Microsoft Word (Ribbon Versions) on that page. Pay special attention to Header/Footer Settings Recap. You cannot select the entire document and change the settings for multiple sections. It just does not work that way. If the problem is messed up page numbering, there is a method to restart page numbering from page 1 and have it be continuous through multiple sections. It is implemented here: Continuous Page Numbering Add-In |

I have down loaded the Add-ins and saved the file in Word ADDINS. Then what I need to do? I have opened Word and it does not give me the option to add that feature.

From the text of the Add-In:
"This template should be stored in the Word Startup Folder." |

Charles:
Thank you for the help. I am running XP as my OS. The file structure given in Word Startup Folder is not applicable to me. However I searched for Startup and found in Program file and it worked. Bottom line is problem solved and thanks to you all. I am 83 years old and I still can work because of you guys. |
