Copying and Pasting from Other Programs Results in Italicized Text
So when I try to copy and paste text from certain other programs it pastes it in italics. On one program if I elect to keep source formatting or merge it, it results in a text that is completely italicized. On another program this only happens if I elect to merge formatting. Keeping original formatting in that instance is fine. If I keep only the text it removes the italics, but then I lose all formatting, which I don't want. I thought it may have been one of the software programs I work with, but when I started noticing it on the other one today I was certain this is a problem with Word 2016. I have tried changing the default, but it didn't work. I've also tried deleting the regkey to try and return Word back to its original settings but it didn't work. The only thing it seemed to do was remove my recent history. |

Okay, I've done a lot of poking around and finally figured it out on my own (with a little help from the internet).
The girl I got from Microsoft was useless. Kept blaming my software. I told her when I figured what was wrong I was going to contact her and tell her what it was. I knew it must have been a formatting/styles issue, so based on that I clicked on Style Inspector and it became very clear where my problem lay. Seems my paragraph formatting was Normal, but text level formatting was italicized. Not sure how or why that happened. not sure how I fixed it either, but I just fiddled around on it for five minutes and got it back to normal. Sometimes Microsoft is great, but sometimes they just completely waste your time. Shouldn't these people be properly trained in Word before getting jobs trying to fix problems with it? |

If you are the person who posted a similar question in the Microsoft Community (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...sc&tab=threads), you should post a follow-up in that thread indicating that the question was cross-posted and that you found a solution, sort of.

Maybe you managed to clear direct font formatting from text or maybe you changed the default setting of the paragraph style at the insertion point. It is difficult to tell without looking at the original document.
