Trying to turn off inking with surface pro 4
I am encountering a very specific problem with my tablet and the stylus pen that comes with it. I cannot turn off inking in this scenario that we are using, maybe this is a bug? Maybe its something else.
I am using a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 I am running windows 10 pro (Version 10.0.14393) With Office 365 ProPlus (Version 1612 (Build 7668.2074)) And my stylus with this tablet is constantly in inking mode on these word documents. The word documents I am using are templates created by our corporation for internal use. (*.dotx) these word documents are password protected > Restrict Editing > The only type of editing allowed is Filling in forms, the ribbon is greyed out as well. But the stylus wont edit any forms, it just wants to ink on top of all forms and checkboxes. If I save this template as a regular word document, the ribbon continues to be greyed out and it will only accept inking from the stylus. Changing the "Pen" setting in Options > Advanced does not do anything in this document. However, if I use a new word document I can use the stylus properly as a normal cursor, and my ribbon is not greyed out. And if I use another template that is not password protected for editing the stylus will act normal and check off checkboxes, put a cursor in text fields, and the ribbon is not greyed out. If I were to do a rollback on microsoft office to version 1511 (Build 6366.2062) I know that the stylus would work normally on these password protected templates. |
