Default Saved and reopened files print wrongly

Bizarre problem in Word 2016 for Mac (Sierra).

If a document is created with layout (in ribbon)/paper size set to A5 (my default size is A4), orientation landscape, the document prints OK, and if printed again, it still prints OK.

If the document is saved, but Word is left running, and then the document is reopened, it still prints OK.

If, however, the document is saved, Word is turned off, and at a later stage the saved document is double-clicked in order to start Word and open the document, the paper size and orientation are still shown as originally set, but the text prints 3.1 cm too low. The same thing happens with other non-A4 paper sizes in landscape format.

NB: this only happens in Word 2016. It does not happen in Word 2011.
