I'm using Word 2007 that I've used on other computers and have never had this issue. Any time I type 's Word changes it to the word "without" after the apostrophe. For example, if I type someone's name, like Jake's, it changes to Jake'without. Same with it's (it'without), there's (there'without), etc. Any reason why this is happening, and maybe a solution to fix it? I can't have this happen and not catch it. Thanks! |

It sounds like some wag has set up an autocorrect entry to make the change?

This is my home PC and I'm the only one that uses it (the numerous keys with worn-off letters ensures that...ha!). I've only just installed it on this PC after my other died a week ago. I thought maybe it was somehow preset for that, but I've checked auto correct and it's not there. I actually can find nothing with an apostrophe in auto correct, as I've only been using this for a week and haven't added all my entries yet. I just don't understand it, and it's highly irritating.

After the change/replacement has occurred, which command is listed on the Undo drop down (on the Quick Access Toolbar)?

It says Auto Format, then "typing s," and then the next line says Auto Correct. But for the life of me I cannot find anything in auto correct or auto format that pertains to this. However, I just created an auto correct entry making apostrophe-s "change" to apostrophe-s, so I think I've at least got a work-around. If someone can come up with an actual fix for it, though, I'd still like to know it. Thank you

Click a word that has been AutoCorrected and find out which language formatting Word has applied to it (for example, have a look at Review | Language | Set Proofing Language which indicates the language at the insertion point—or you can add the Language control to the status bar). Since AutoCorrecte entries are language-specific, this might give a clue.
