Master Documents - Still problems in Word 2013?
Hi all,
I want to start using Master Documents - all the comment on them on various forums seems to be from 2009 and earlier and says, emphatically, Don't Use Them - an oft repeated line is Master Documents are in one of two states, Corrupt or Just About To Be Corrupt. I wonder, I'm using Word 2013 - are the issues people talk about now fixed? There are lots of How To's but mostly on info websites which just re-hash the steps required. I'm looking for thoughts specifically about the newer versions of word, 2010, 2013 & 2016 to see whether the problems have been ironed out. Thanks Rob |

I heard from John McGhie that the issues were fixed in the Mac version of Word 2016. I am unsure as to the Windows version. Master Documents is not a feature for the Android or iPad versions. I asked John whether it had been fixed in the Windows version and he has not answered. The downside is pretty catastrophic. That line you quoted is from John. They were not fixed as of Word 2013, AFAIK.
I have not had the interest to work with it since Word 2003 because the downside is so catastrophic and MDs by definition involve a lot of work. Master Documents "Feature" |
