Default Word Doc Copied from HTML

I was given a Word doc that looks like all or part of it was copied from a web page. The doc has a short horizontal line that goes part way across the document at the bottom. I don't want this line in the doc. I can see the line in Word, but it is greyed out so I can't select it to delete it. When I use File\Web Page Preview I can use the View\Source and delete the code <hr align=left size=1 width="33%"> to eliminate the line. But I can't get it out of the Word version. I need to keep the document as a Word doc.

I have attached the doc.

Thanks

It has something to do with the title above the table. Project Measurement & Reporting Process.
What I did was reconstruct it on a new document.
- 1st copy the last table making sure you don't select beyond the text in the last column. (Instructional Designer)
- Copy the Purpose statement
- Copy the table on page 1
- Copy the name Project Measurement ...

This seems to be the easiest way around it.
Good Luck
