Can you help me? I have layout set for odd and even pages on new. Then this happened (look at screenshot). For several pages it says first page sections rather than odd or even as in previous pages. This has caused every page from that point to be only even pages. It changed the format of my document. I don't know how to fix it.

You have evidently messed up the page layout by an over-use of Section breaks. Your second screenshot depicts four Sections in as many pages...
If you attach the actual document to a post, someone here might be able to tidy it up for you. The attachment(s) could then be deleted. If you go down that course, do be aware that docx attachments are limited to no more than 500KB each, but you could add the document to a zip archive of up to 2Mb and attach that. Deleting any photos from the attachment(s) would significantly reduce the file size.

Each time it is showing "first page" that is because it is the first page in that Section. I agree with Paul that you seem to be overusing section breaks. Take a look at the StyleRef Field if what you are trying to do with these is change your headers and footers.

Different first page
I managed to get rid of all the section breaks. I followed the instructions but am not able to start numbering on the first chapter. One of the techs told me to upload the document. May I still do that so that you can fix the page numbering for me? Chapter 1 is called Desperation and Hope which should be page 1. Thank you and sorry to keep bothering you. The instructions really have me confused.

There are no "techs" here. The responses you are getting are from your fellow users, who may have more experience with these matters than you do.

We really only need the part of the document from the first page up to and including the Chapter 1 heading (Desperation and Hope). Once that part is fixed, you should be able to copy the rest of your document and paste it in after that heading - or make the same changes to your own document.

Different first page
There is nothing in the links you gave me that indicate how to start page numbering on a different page. I want to start numbering on the first chapter of my manuscript. I read all of the links and nothing relates to my issue. Please advise. No one has been replying to me the last few times I have left messages here.

My reply has disappeared. There is nothing in the links you gave me that shows me how to start page numbering on a different page.

Where did you post an answer to start page numbering on a different page? I read all your links thoroughly. No need for you to be rude. I paid a lot of money for Word and am learning many things from your replies except for this one.
So, if you would be so kind, can you please show me where the reply is for start page numbering on a different page? And please don't send me the links about headers and footers again because the answer is not there. Thank you |

Perhaps you should read them again, especially posts 2, 3, 13 & 25. Accusing others of being rude just because you have reading problems is uncalled for...
