Default HELP! Can't cancel "find" command

Hi,

I'm using MS Word 2007 and after using the "find" function, to find specific words throughout the doc, I am unable to cancel the "find" (search) command. It still allows me to work, but what it does is it disables the little "double arrows" on the bottom of the right scroll bar, the ones that allow you to flip by page, rather than the single arrow which only scrolls.

When I click the double arrow to move by page, I get a dialog box to the effect of "word has searched to the end...do you want word to search from the beginning..." indicating that the "find" commend is still in effect.

In help it tells you to use the cancel button on the "search/find" dialog box. I keep doing that but it doesn't work: I still cannot move through the doc by page using the double arrow.

Any ideas?

Thx, Jim

If the cancel button and the red x button at the top of your find window are non-responsive, I think you have a damaged program.

I'm not sure, but I am guessing that seemingly universal pop-up find feature is a function of Microsoft Office in general, and not specific to Word. Do you get the same problem in Excel or Internet Explorer? Have you tried a system restore or reloading your Microsoft Office software?
