Default Combining Characters in Find & Replace

Hi,

I have a Word text with multiple combining diacritics over Cyrillic letters (like ӯ а́ ӗ). I need to access every diacritic to make it appear in a different font without changing the font of the letters it appears over.

Find & Replace dialogue doesn't do squat treating combinations as single characters. But if you try to replace them en masse like [ӯ а́ ӗ] then it'll go for base characters, ignoring letters with diacritics altogether.

Is there a workaround to help with this mess? And if there isn't, do you know of any other rtf/doc(x) compatible software that can do the trick?

In such situations, your Find expression has to include both characters used for the combining diacritics - and in the correct order.

Presumably, your diacritics are in one font and the letters in another. Inserting both characters into the Find box, with ^& as the Replace expression, and choosing whatever font both should be in for the replacement will enable you to have both in the same font.

Forget it. Hopefully someone with a bit more sense will turn up...

I suggest you learn a little more circumspection with your posting. Attitudes such as come across in your last post are liable to see no-one inclined to offer any help - or even lead to you being banned from this site...
