Default MS Pro+ 2013 typing slow

For quite a while, displaying of typing has been slow. I will type in a Word doc or Outlook email and the display of what I typed does not appear. As I keep trying to type, eventually, the letters appear. I have plenty of space on my C drive where MS Office is saved. The problem has gotten worse over time. Typing on the internet seems normal.

This makes creating a document very frustrating, as you can imagine.

Have you tried repairing the Office installation (via Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair)?

Have you tried running Word in safe mode (i.e. hold down the Ctrl key while starting Word)? If that improves things, you most likely have an addin that's responsible for the performance hit.

Have you tried clearing the contents of the temporary storage folder used by Word (typically C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\Temp)? Close all Office Application before doing so.

Unhappy Cannot repair

Four attempts gave the same response: MS Office Pro+ 2013 could not finalize configuration, so no repair was enabled.

In that case you may need to uninstall, then reinstall, Office.

Try starting Word is Safe mode. Same problem? If not, I would suspect an Add-In. I guess I would suggest starting in Safe mode before doing a reinstall.

Add-Ins in Microsoft Word

Charles: If Word is unable to complete a repair (see post #3), that suggests something more serious than a rogue addin.
