Word 2010 Header text on line lower than pg #
I cannot type in the header text at the far left on the same line as pg # at far right. I am forced to use the next line, which puts the text a line below the #. I have tried back-spacing from the number to get to the far left of that line so I can enter the text; won't let me. The page # was in place before I tried to enter text.

Without actually seeing the problem document, it can be difficult for anyone to diagnose the issue. Can you attach a document to a post with some representative data (delete anything sensitive)? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen.

Show hidden marks.
Showing non-printing formatting marks in Microsoft Word Show the ruler. Chances are good that the paragraph the page number is in is right-justified. Press Ctrl+L to make it left-justified. Type your text at the beginning then press the tab key or insert an alignment tab to move the page number over into the right side again. Just a guess. As Paul said, we could tell with a sample document (not a screenshot). How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum. |

Example of header problem
I have been unable to reduce the size of the jpg of my page to fit the file size requirements of this system -- not and get the header in the picture. And I have been unable to save just one page of the full file to a separate Word file - highlighting to copy and paste does not include header. Don't know if you'll be able to see the problem with just the header. Page # on one line, text on next line.

Your attachment doesn't have content in the page header - only in the document body. That said, you can backspace before CAT-ONE to delete the paragraph break that follows the page # to put that text on the same line as, but following, the page #. Or you can just drag it there - or before the page #, if that's where you want it.

Your first line, with the page number, is right-justified. There is nothing before the page number.
Alignment / Justification of Text in Microsoft Word If you left-justify that line you can place your text before the page number and then use the Tab key (or an alignment tab) to right-justify your page number. |
