Have you had a look at the online templates to see if something there works for you?

There is also a tool for an earlier version that might work on Office 2003

I did find calendar templates on the MS website but I need one that I can size as needed such as the ones in MS Publisher which can be sized in either axis or both.

Default Resizing Word Tables

Word tables are not resized in the same way that Publisher resizes them. In Word, you set the table properties rather than dragging outside corners. Are you sure that the table created by your chosen template cannot be resized?

Can you post a link to the template you chose?

This is the template I tried to use, it will allow me to change size but both dimensions change proportionately and I need to alter height without changing width.

This is a table with row heights set to a specific number.

To change the height of each row (and hence the entire table), select the rows, right click and choose Table Properties, go to the Rows tab and change the row height setting
