Heading and the paragraphs grouped together in MS Word 2007
I want to prevent this scenario from happening:
https://gyazo.com/5532a94d23e956bb0440bcb96a408c12 I want, instead, to have both the paragraph and its heading to be in the same page. Thanks~ Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 12-04-2016 at 08:52 AM. Reason: edited to correct jargon - header - heading |

This is paragraph formatting. First, it is important that you use display of hidden formatting marks. Showing non-printing formatting marks in Microsoft Word
You can get to that control under the paragraph group by clicking on the dialog launcher in the bottom-right corner. Use the second tab and check "keep with next." 00 deleteme 1.png If you use the built-in heading styles, this attribute is built in. It works with the whole "block" of paragraph but it doesn't work with the header even though I've ticked the "Keep with next."

How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum.
(for future use) If everything is marked as "Keep with Next" and "Keep lines together" Word has to break someplace. Empty paragraphs marked this way especially cause problems. You need to take these off of all paragraphs as a start. Then apply as needed. 2.2 Why you should press Enter only once to end a paragraph Generally, you want "Keep with Next" in your heading. That keeps that paragraph with the next paragraph. "Keep lines together" will keep a paragraph all on one page if possible. If not possible, Word will give a page break before the paragraph. |

Tried what you suggested in a new Doc and it still doesn't work, even without empty paragraphs and even when using default styles..
I removed all empty paragraphs this still happens 43111df51276fcc31cd2474a684161dd.png made a new style just for that purpose bab4d7536c6642a0470ad15d5bae96cd.png and removed the formatting for "Normal" 905b9f5b91e6751755e722f8d67c66df.png |

If the paragraph starting with "3." were in one of the built-in heading styles it would keep with next. Since it is not, you need to apply that setting to that paragraph.
Please review the web page on using built-in heading styles. Also, if you are doing numbering, see How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in Ribbon Versions of Word by Shauna Kelly. |

Got it, thanks. But is there a way to make a style to have the same effect, tho?

Yes, but you do not want the "style for following paragraph" set to be the same style or you will be back where you started. If everything is marked as "keep lines together" and "keep with next" Word will put in arbitrary page breaks. You probably want to be using the built-in heading styles, modified to meet your needs.
