Updating font in index without updating style of index
Hello
I am putting an index into a document and our default font is Arial. The index default is calibri body. When updating to be Arial I want to keep the style that the index is presented in but can't and I am unable to see why it changes or where it is set in the settings element of index creation. |

Indexes in Word employ the 'Index 1' to 'Index 9' Styles. If you don't want to use the default font, change the font used for whichever Index Style you want to display in a different font.

Thanks Paul. I had tried doing that but it didn't just change the font which is what prompted the question. When changing the font it also changes the whole layout which I don't want to change.

If you select a given index entry using, say, the 'Index 1' Style, you can change the font it uses by:
1. Applying the font attibutes to that entry 2. Right-clicking on the entry 3. Choosing Styles>Update Index 1 to match selection. That's all there is to it; nothing but the font will change.

Thanks Paul, That works. I had been modifying the font in the index set up. Not sure why that made a difference but it did!
