Running Head AND Page Number on First Page of Document (for APA Format) with Word 2003
As some of you may be aware, APA calls for a running head on the cover/title page of the document that has the words "Running head:" in front of the header, while the header on subsequent pages is supposed to have the header only, without "Running head:" in front.
APA also calls for the page numbers to begin on the cover/title page (upper right). I have been able to get my Word 2003 to do only one or the other. I can have the "Running head:" in front of the header and the header without that in subsequent pages but if I try to get the numbering on that first page, "Running head:" disappears. I've tried following the related tutorials I could find on YouTube but without success. If anyone could tell me how to do both things for the same document, that would be most appreciated. |

The only reason your 'running head' is disappearing is because you're using the 'top of page' page numbering option to apply the numbering. Select the position you want the page # to appear at abd use the 'current position' page numbering option instead.
