microsofthelp is on a distinguished road

how to get control/option-delete to only delete the word and not the preceding space

on other applications, option delete only deletes the word and not the preceding space, how do i get this to work on word?

weird thing is that if i change the line spacing formatting, option delete will delete the word only but only for a few minutes before it starts deleting the preceding space as well.

anyone got any idea? thanks
