Default Problems using word to create web page

Hello all

I am using MS word 2003 to create a web page
I am having several difficulties with this.

I want to
. Present the page as a single column of text – about 30 A4 pages long
. Limit the width of my text to about A4 sheet wide.
. Use the outline numbering feature of MS word
. Use numbered headings, sub-headings and sub-sub-headings
. Minimise the size of my htm file
. Use a meta tag description
. Use a meta tag keywords
. Use all Ariel font
. Use Violet Ariel font size 12 for headings
. Use Ariel font size 10 elsewhere

**** Here is how I update my web site

Word > File > Open > my-page-main.htm
. Make changes
. Check Word > Format > Styles and formatting
I try to minimise the number of styles, hoping to reduce the file size

If I put this file onto the web, it would use the full width of the screen and so be hard to read.
Here is how I paste this text into a single cell of a table in another document.

. Select all
. Copy

Open > my-table.htm
This file has a table with one cell set up of the right width
Paste my web page text into the table cell

Save as my-temp-file.htm - unfiltered
A lot of the formatting is lost in this cut and paste
For some reason, my Ariel size 10 becomes Ariel size 11 in lots of spots
I need to edit this file

Word > Format > Styles & format
Here are the changes to the ms word styles I must then make to regain the formatting I want.
. Normal style 11 to 10 point
. I have not used normal web style (No reason)

Ditto emphasis style
. Ditto followed hyper-link style
. Ditto hyper-link style
. “Heading 1 before” style, select all and change to Heading 1
. Ditto heading 2
. Ditto heading 3

Word > File > Save file As
File name = my-final-file.htm
File type = htm filtered

I again lose a lot of formatting when I save as filtered html
Again font size 10 often becomes font size 11

I could try editing this again – but I did not last time

Now I insert my meta tags
Note Pad > Open > my-tag-file.txt
Select and copy keywords and description

Note Pad > Open > my-final-file.htm
Paste in the keywords and description

Load onto internet

*** Questions

When I paste in my meta tag description and keywords
Are there other instructions I could add to the file to limit the width of the text on the screen.
Then I would not have to use the single cell table to limit text width.

Perhaps I can reset some default values to stop the re-emergence of Ariel size 11
I would hope these default values would apply to this file alone.

I have used this complicated process as
I had problems when I had a base document with
. All text in one cell of a table and
. Headings numbered
When I changed my headings I lost parts of my document,
My document is about 33 A4 pages long.

Is there another way of limiting the text width that I could easily use?

thanks

My own answer to this is to either:
(a) Use NotePad to insert html code to put all content into a single cell table, or
(b) Simply instruct the web site reader to narrow the viewing window if they find it too wide
