Default Please help! Why do images and shapes disappear when resizing or moving?

When I try to resize or move shapes or images in the document they sometimes disappear, or seemingly move to a different page. It is frustrating because I don't understand why they are doing it.

I'll attach two images in case I wasn't clear. Image one shows the image that was placed at the top left of the page. Image two shows that the image has disappeared after I resized it to fit the whole page.

Can anyone offer insight?
