Default How do i have automatic multi level lists in word 2007

I recently upgraded from word 2000 to 2007. In 2007 you can have multi level lists automatically created by typing the following:

- something
- something
* sub list

the above would turn into a list, i can also create sublists by hitting the tab key. i cant work out how to get 2007 to do thjis automatically for me, anyone know how ?
