Default Fixing my heading numbering

Hi everyone,

I am trying to format my numbered headings.

The yellow highlighted numbers should be 2.1, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.2.1 and so on.

How do I go about fixing this?

I have tried Shauna Kelly's guide but this doesn't seem to assist.

Thank you

Tom

Try it again, following all of the steps.
The key here is what triggers restarting numbering at a particular level.

Did you make sure to use the built-in headings for your numbers? If you click in the first Heading 1 paragraph of the document and then click Home tab | Multilevel List | Define New Multilevel List, you can verify that the settings are correct.

For assistance with the various options, Shauna Kelly's article is an excellent resource.
