Default Show field shading in Content Control

Hello,

I've made text fields in the design mode (not using legacy tools). I would like to maintain shading over these fields all the time (not only when clicked on) so that the user that is filling out the form can easily see the shading for each field. I know this can be done under legacy tools - but that doesn't work for content controls. I've tried clicking on "always" under the advanced options - that doesn't work for my purposes.

Any help on this would be most appreciated!

Thanks.

There is a user interface preference to show the places where the user can make changes. This is not something that you can set in your form, though.

Charles - how do i see this interface preference? the only way the user can see is if they click on design mode - but that doesn't look very nice! Any suggestions?

Field shading does not apply to content controls. Unless you shade them manually (which means the shading will be printed), those cannot be shaded when 'filling in forms' protection is applied; only if you use the 'no changes (read only)' editing restrictions. When such protection is applied, the shading for editable areas (which isn't restricted to just content controls) becomes a pale yellow.
