Default Show field shading in Content Control

Hello,

I've made text fields in the design mode (not using legacy tools). I would like to maintain shading over these fields all the time (not only when clicked on) so that the user that is filling out the form can easily see the shading for each field. I know this can be done under legacy tools - but that doesn't work for content controls. I've tried clicking on "always" under the advanced options - that doesn't work for my purposes.

Any help on this would be most appreciated!

Thanks.
