How to make a SEQ field show up in cross references?
When one inserts a cross reference, the list includes numbered headings, figures, tables, etc...Once, in a galaxy far far away, I knew how to add something to that list.
For example, in my technical documents I usually have a list of references with a {SEQ Reference \* ARABIC} to create a numbered list in an appendix. I then reference each of those numbers somewhere in the body of my document. What I'd like (and pretty sure I've done it before in an older version of word...I'm using 2007 now) is for "References" to show up in that list of cross references. Before it was something that was added to the normal.dot template, so a new user had to have both templates (report and normal), but for the life of me I can't recall how I did it nor can I find the website/email trail to describe it. Ideas? Thanks! |

Did you ever find an answer to this? This is the same question I have an will try again with a new post.

Not seeing a new post...
You can use a REF field to bookmarks. The Cross-Reference function uses types that have automatic bookmarks. I know of no way to add to the types that have automatic bookmarks other than adding captions for them. It seems that the original poster was referring to some sort of Add-In which might well provide that functionality. It could also have been a report document template. |

Bah, no I didn't end up making a new post. My apologies if you went hunting. I wasn't sure if it would be any more effective than just adding my voice to that of Roscoe....
What do you mean by adding captions for types with automatic bookmarks? It's interesting that both myself and Roscoe are vaguely aware of the same function that allows for an update to the automatic bookmarks. It does have something to do with changes to a document template. Still looking for the answer and am frustrated that it isn't more apparent. |

Again, you can use the REF field to cross-reference any bookmark. |
