I'm having the same problem. I use Word on a Mac, from Office 365, so I always have the latest version. This is a bug which seems to have happened following an update. I'll be using Track Changes in the simple view mode, and the red line disappears intermittently. Switching track changes off and on again fixes it, but only for a brief time.

It's a real pain! Does anyone know why this has started happening and how it can be fixed?
