Default Formatting Cross References


The journal I am writing for requires captions above tables and figures to be bold capitalized, e.g., TABLE 0 and FIGURE 0. But it requires cross-references in the text to have only initial caps, e.g., "... as may be seen in Table 0 and Figure 0...". I have not been able to accomplish this while maintaining the dynamic links that automatically update cross references when I move, add or delete tables and figures. Instead, Word automatically inserts capitalized (non-bold) cross-references, e.g., "...as may be seen in TABLE 0 and FIGURE 0...". I have played around with reformatting inserted cross references, but Word always updates them to the all caps format.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
