Track Changes - how do I make it to be turned on automatically for every doc I open?
Hi,
I am using Word 2013. I want to be able to track changes for every document I open, is it possible? I have tried to find registry keys that will be able to do that, but so far found nothing. Any ideas? Thanks, Goni Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 07-10-2016 at 09:06 AM. Reason: Mark as solved |

There is no such registry key. This is a document setting, not an application setting. If you right-click on the status bar at the bottom of your window you can add Track Changes to the status bar. This will let you turn it on (or off) with a mouse-click.
Otherwise, the keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+E. |

You will need an auto macro that activates Track Changes for all documents that you open in Word.

Here is a pair of auto macros that will do this if your really need it.
Code:
Sub AutoOpen() ' ' TrackChangesOn Macro ' ActiveDocument.TrackRevisions = True End Sub Sub AutoNew() AutoOpen End Sub I do not think this is a particularly good idea because most people would not like having track changes on in every document. If you need help on what to do with the code, see... Installing Macros I've put a link to this thread in the troubleshooting portion of my page on Track Changes. |
