Do Themes and Styles effect each other?

What if you make custom themes?

Thanks!

I do not claim a thorough understanding of this. That said, styles do not effect themes, but themes can effect styles if the styles are set up using theme variables. Themes set an underlying heading and body font and certain colors.

Themes will affect styles in the following way: Theme fonts and theme colors may be used by a style. For example, if the font name defined for a paragraph style includes "(Body)" or "(Heading)" it means that the body font (or heading font) of the theme will be applied to text.
