Default Printing in Chrome Messes Up Word 2016?

I have very strange settings that I must use in Chrome in order to print shipping labels through eBay. But then when I try to print envelopes in Word it tries to print them in portrait instead of landscape.

The only way I can fix this is to disable all of my Chrome settings and set them to portrait. THEN, I have to print out a page. Only then will Word print my custom envelope template (that I have used for years) correctly.

What can I do?

You could get rid of Chrome... Or, if it's using a Word addin of some sort, disable that. Evidently something in your Chrome settings is incompatible with Word.

Is that your best advice? Get rid of Chrome? I had no compatibility problems with Office 2010 Word. I don't have any Word extensions in Chrome.

Given that the problem only occurs with your Chrome installation when certain Chrome settings are active, it's quite evident that Chrome is the problem. Your follow-up post suggests your Chrome installation hasn't been updated to make it compatible with Office 2016. If, after all this time, Google hasn't seen fit to make it compatible, your options are limited.

The only thing they have in common is they both use Microsoft Windows 10 universal print dialog. If it were Chrome's fault simply shutting it down would solve the problem.

Well, let's review what you said in post #1:

The import of that is that the way Chrome is configured on your System interferes with Word's operations and that you can change those setting to remedy the matter. Simply shutting Chrome down doesn't change its settings or the interference they're causing.

You might try repairing the Office installation (via Start > Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair) but that's not necessarily going to remedy problems caused by Chrome.

Except as I previously mentioned, Office 2010 works just fine with Chrome. The problem seems to be with how Word 2016 deals with the print dialog, not necessarily Chrome, although Chrome is my current browser so that my launching point for the WIN 10 print dialog.

The fact Chrome works with one application does NOT mean it's compatible with another.

Which is why I pointed out that this problem exists even when Chrome is not running. The common connection is the print dialog.

I can see I'm wasting my time here. I'll leave you to sort it out for yourself.
