Hi all,
I'm having trouble getting a form field to show up in the correctly set font and font size when a user inputs a response. I want them to be able to have the text in one specific field be much larger and a different font than all the other input fields in the form, however it seems as if the formatting is set to a default which I can't discover how to change. Any advice gratefully received. |

Formfields adopt the attributes of the underlying paragraph or character Styles. Accordingly, you set the font size by applying an appropriate Style to the formfield before applying the protection.

Thanks, but it doesn't appear to be working that way for me. It seems to retain the formatting from fields elsewhere in the document, and not as a flow-on from the line it appears in.
The field needs to be the 'title' of the document, and as such needs to be much bigger than simple body copy, which is apparently what it appears as now. Is there a way to 'set' this? You mention applying an appropriate style to the formfield, but how is this achieved? Thanks. |

![]() Quote:
a) create or modify an appropriate Style; b) select the formfield and apply the Style. See: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...5-9CBB6EDE1BA4

Ok, thanks for that. I have tried it, but it doesn't seem to recognise that I have done that.
Any other thoughts on how I can get it to work properly? Is it perhaps a bug? |

It's not a bug, it works with both Content Controls and Legacy Form Fields. It's the basis by which all Word formatting works. Unprotect the form, select the field (all of it, not merely that part within the field) and apply whatever formatting you require. Re-protect the form.
If the 'field' in question is a Cross Reference field, taking input from another part of trhe document, then use a CHARFORMAT switch on the field to ensure it retains the applied formatting.
