Letterhead template formatting problem with Word 2003
In a simple, basic, step by step explanation, can someone please explain how I can make a letterhead template permanently not mess up when I copy and paste new text? Our office has a Microsoft Word letterhead template (image 1). The letterhead is wider than the standard 1 inch margins. Unlike Word Perfect, which works fine, even when I copy and paste a small amount of text to include with this letterhead, the letterhead is fine, but the margins are incorrect (image 2). If I include a large amount of multipage text, the letterhead gets all messed up (image 3). In a simple, basic, step by step explanation, can someone please explain how I can make a letterhead template permanently not mess up when I copy and paste new text? Thank you in advance. |

I can't see any "break" in the file >> page setup >> layout tab. I am using Microsoft Word 2003, not Microsoft Word 2007. I think the above instructions are only applicable to Microsoft 2007.
These instructions from MVPS are a possibility:How to put a portrait page number on a landscape page which list solutions for both Word 2007 and Word 2003. Also: Microsoft.com, About sections and section breaks, for Microsoft Word 2003. Thank you! |

Thanks to the other posters suggestions above, I found a solution!
In Word 2003: Click the show/hides codes button (Image 1). Below the letterhead place the cursor where you want to place the section break (Image 2). On the menu bar, click Insert >> Break (Image 3). The Break box pops up. Under "Section Break Types" select Continuous (Image 4). A ======== Section Break (Continuous) ========= line will show up (if you have the coding on) (Image 5). SOLVED Now you can adjust the margins below the Section Break Continuous line, paste text, etc., without changing the above letterhead. Sorry to double post. |
